ISLAMABAD, July 22 (Alliance News): Security forces killed 10 terrorists and arrested two female suicide bombers during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Balochistan’s Mastung and Surab districts over the past 48 hours, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to an ISPR statement, the operations were carried out as part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign against what it described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khwarij terrorist networks.
The military’s media wing said security forces conducted multiple intelligence-based area sanitisation and targeted operations in Surab and Mastung, successfully engaging terrorist hideouts.
During the operations, seven terrorists were killed in Surab, while three others were neutralised in Mastung. Security forces also arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator allegedly linked to the Fitna al-Hindustan network.
The ISPR said a cache of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was recovered from the terrorists.
It added that sanitisation operations were continuing to eliminate any remaining militants and their facilitators in the area.
The military reaffirmed that the nationwide counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
The latest operations come after security forces launched Operation Shaban following the deadly terrorist attack on a police checkpoint in Ziarat earlier this month, during which security sources said at least 129 militants were killed.
Earlier this month, at least 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, lost their lives in three separate terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
